Catalogues are available for next week’s Holstein NI show and sale at the Pedigree Sales Arena, Moira.

Sponsored by Teemore Engineering, the pre-sale show will be judged by David McNaugher from the Mullaugher herd based at Aghadowey, County Londonderry.  Judging commences at 10.30am, followed by the sale at 11.30am.

Auctioneer Michael Taaffe has confirmed that the catalogue for the sale on Wednesday 18th March has attracted an entry of 38 fresh calved heifers and cows.

“This is a great opportunity to acquire top-class fresh calved heifers and cows in full milk,” he said.

Entries have been received from the following herd:  Annalong, Ardmore, Ards, Aughnahoory, Cluntagh, Hilltara, Relough and Willofarm.

The females on offer are daughters of top AI bulls including Iota, Twist, Stanleycup, Fever, Doberman, McCormick, Goldsun, Gunnar, Wyman, Shot Trigger, Windbrook, Shottle and Focus.

July 2011: SARA WINS 10th ANNIVERSARY McLARNON CHAMPIONSHIP

The Final of the McLarnon Feeds / NISA Dairy Cow Championship 2011 held at Antrim Show proved to be a spectacular event as the sun shone on the largest turnout of cows seen in the 10 years of this Championship.  Fifteen cows in total were presented on the day representing some of the best dairy stock in the Province from Northern Irelands top breeders battling itt out for the “Dairy Cow of the Year 2011” title. The most prestigious dairy livestock competition on the island of  Ireland was officially launched earlier this week by  R&A Bailey & Co. in Dublin.

The Baileys® Irish Champion Dairy Cow Competition is open to entries from both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and will take place at the Virginia Show, in Virginia, Co. Cavan on the new date of Saturday 31 July.
